Send Money
What is Send Money?
Send Money is a new feature in Online and Mobile Banking that lets you send money to friends and family using just their email or mobile number, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
How do I send money to someone in Online or Mobile Banking?
In Online or Mobile Banking, go to Move Money > Send Money.
Enter the recipient’s email address or mobile number. We’ll send them a link to accept the payment. They’ll provide their account information and choose how they’d like to receive the money (using their account number or direct to their debit card). Once completed, the funds will be transferred.
If their bank or credit union participates in either the FedNow® or RTP® network, the payment will be sent instantly. If not, processing will take 1-3 business days.
Will any payment I send through Send Money be available immediately?
No. The receiving bank or credit union must also participate in either the FedNow® or RTP® network for the payment to be sent instantly.
How do I know if a bank or credit union participates in the FedNow® or RTP® networks?
FedNow® and RTP® are payment networks that allow participating banks and credit unions to send and receive money almost instantly. You can still send and receive money from non-participating banks; the payments will just take a little longer to process, typically 1-3 business days.
You can check the list of participating financial institutions for each network using these links:
What if the person I send a payment to says they didn’t receive the funds?
If the recipient doesn’t receive or accept the funds, your account will be refunded within 72 hours.
Where can I send money, and which accounts can I send it from?
You can send money to any domestic checking or savings account using either Online Banking or the Mobile App. International transfers are not supported at this time.
When setting up a payment, you’ll see a list of your accounts that are available to send from in the drop-down menu. The numbers listed are your MICR/Account Number. If you’re having trouble distinguishing which account is which, you can find this number under Details and Settings within each account.
Are there fees, and how will I know if my payment went through?
There are no fees to send or receive money through Send Money. You’ll receive an email confirmation from CommonWealth with your transaction details after funds are sent.
Can I set up a recurring payment or set a payment for a future date?
Yes. You can schedule a payment for a future date or set up recurring payments on a weekly or monthly basis.
