We've closed the Milpitas Branch.

In recent years, our digital channel usage continues to grow as an increasing number of members seek fast and convenient ways to engage with us. Over the years, we have implemented technology enhancements to better serve members in the digital space. New and existing members are increasingly taking advantage of these services without needing to visit a branch office. Our Credit Union has been moving forward with expanding our digital offerings to serve members based on their changing needs and preferences. While we’ve made great progress, there is still a lot to do as digital channel usage continues to accelerate. As a result, we have identified the need to further expand and enhance our digital capabilities by more assertively shifting our resources accordingly. 

These changes in member preferences have led us to make the difficult decision to close our Milpitas branch office effective May 14th.

We are grateful for the many years of having a physical location in the city of Milpitas. We are confident that we will be able to continue to serve you and our other Milpitas members, along with the Milpitas community, through our digital channels — all of which will also be supported by our other branch offices. Thank you to all of our members for their continued support.

    Why did you close the Milpitas Branch?

    For the past several years, the Credit Union has been pushing forward with our digital transformation efforts to serve our members based on their changing preferences. While we’ve made great progress, there is still a lot to do and digital channel usage has accelerated. This means we need to more assertively shift our resources to digital-based on member needs and behaviors. We made the decision in order to position us to better serve our members now and into the future.


    Do we have plans to close any other branch?

    No, not at this time. 


    Is CommonWealth having financial trouble?

    We remain a safe and sound financial institution and this decision was not made due to financial concerns. We remain well-capitalized with over 9% capital as a percent of total assets.


    What has happened to the employees at the Milpitas branch?

    We truly value our employees and we have offered our Milpitas staff other positions in the Credit Union. Our Milpitas team has contributed to our success over the years and they will play a key role in helping our members during this transition. 

    Will I be able to call someone if I need help now that the branch is closed?

    Yes. We have a support team available to ensure that our Milpitas members are aware of the branch closure, respond to specific member requests and assist in answering member inquires. This team will also help our members to understand the different tools, resources and channels available to them to make their banking experience with us convenient and easy.  

    Are there other locations I can go to in this area to do my banking?

    We’re here to help and we have many options for you to handle your banking needs. We offer remote services that make it easy for you to complete certain transactions anytime, anywhere. You can also visit a CO-OP Branch location or ATM in the area. For new loans or deposit accounts, there are several options from applying online to scheduling a video call to visiting one of our other branch offices
